The Kumaraswamy-G Poisson Family of Distributions

For any baseline continuous G distribution, we propose a new generalized family called the Kumaraswamy-G Poisson (denoted with the prefix “Kw-GP”) with three extra positive parameters. Some special distributions in the new family such as the Kw-Weibull Poisson, Kw-gamma Poisson and Kw-beta Poisson distributions are introduced. We derive some mathematical properties of the new family including the ordinary moments, generating function and order statistics. The method of maximum likelihood is used to fit the distributions in the new family. We illustrate its potentiality by means of an application to a real data set

One Wide Feedforward is All You Need

The Transformer architecture has two main non-embedding components: Attention and the Feed Forward Network (FFN). Attention captures interdependencies between words regardless of their position, while the FFN non-linearly transforms each input token independently. In this work we explore the role of the FFN, and find that despite taking up a significant fraction of the model's parameters, it is highly redundant. Concretely, we are able to substantially reduce the number of parameters with only a modest drop in accuracy by removing the FFN on the decoder layers and sharing a single FFN across the encoder. Finally we scale this architecture back to its original size by increasing the hidden dimension of the shared FFN, achieving substantial gains in both accuracy and latency with respect to the original Transformer Big

The subjective body of nursing academic: dimensions of sensoperception

Objetivo: identificar a maneira como acadêmicos de enfermagem visualizam o próprio corpo a partir do tato. Metodologia: estudo descritivo, de abordagem qualitativa com destaque para a subjetividade, feito com 33 alunos de graduação em enfermagem da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte/UFRN. Resultados: as respostas obedecem a um roteiro céfalo-caudal frente a um modelo anatomicamente incorporado para o exame físico. Os acadêmicos manifestaram gostar das partes que se situam na cabeça, tronco e não gostar daquelas referentes aos membros inferiores configurando um esquema corporal idealizado frente um corpo concreto e não aceito, embora tenha que conviver com o mesmo. Conclusão: mediante o estudo foi possível avaliar o quão importante é a relação desses estudantes com seu corpo e sua influência de cunho psicossocial e, ainda num sentido projetivo reflete a relação frente ao corpo dos portadores de transtornos mentais e comportamentais, objeto do seu cuidado

Using open-access data to explore relations between urban landscapes and diarrhoeal diseases in Côte d'Ivoire

Unlike water and sanitation infrastructures or socio-economic indicators, landscape features are seldomly considered as predictors of diarrhoea. In contexts of rapid urbanisation and changes in the physical environment, urban planners and public health managers could benefit from a deeper understanding of the relationship between landscape patterns and health outcomes. We conducted an ecological analysis based on a large ensemble of open-access data to identify specific landscape features associated with diarrhoea. Designed as a proof-of-concept study, our research focused on Côte d'Ivoire. This analysis aimed to (i) build a framework strictly based on open-access data and open-source software to investigate diarrhoea risk factors originating from the physical environment and (ii) understand whether different types and forms of urban settlements are associated with different prevalence rates of diarrhoea. We advanced landscape patterns as variables of exposure and tested their association with the prevalence of diarrhoea among children under the age of five years through multiple regression models. A specific urban landscape pattern was significantly associated with diarrhoea. We conclude that, while the improvement of water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructures is crucial to prevent diarrhoeal diseases, the health benefits of such improvements may be hampered if the overall physical environment remains precarious

O programa AGROSCRE foi elaborado para conferir agilidade da avaliação de modelos matemáticos screening, que auxiliam a análise do potencial de contaminação de agrotóxicos em água. Este trabalho apresenta o manual do usuário deste programa, possibilitando uma maior divulgação do uso dos modelos ?screening? e fomentando avaliações, cada vez mais fidedignas, da realidade local do ambiente de produção agrícola nacional, na medida em que os dados de entrada forem refinados.
